Welcome!

The Town of Newport is a town rich in history and community pride.

Just two square miles, Newport cherishes its small town flavor, where neighbors become friends and many of our families have lived here for generations.

Once a shipping hub on the New Castle County waterways, Newport now boasts a strong and diverse economic base that ranges from the small entrepreneur to the skilled crafts to the environmental award winning Ciba Specialties.

Founded in 1862, Newport is a Chartered Town, governed by locally elected commissioners and managed by a Town Manager. With careful thought, Newport and its residents and business community have developed a comprehensive master plan to chart our path for the future and to guide us in shaping tomorrow through the decisions we make today.

Newport -- you have to love it here!
